St. John’s has maintained a tradition of excellence in music since the inception of the parish in the 1800’s.
Today we host:
a series of special music events
an Adult Mixed Choir
and our historic Austin Organ
For most of the life of the parish, music has played a significant role in the liturgy, maintaining the Anglican tradition.
The Adult Mixed Choir is comprised of professionals and members from the congregation. They lead the music every Sunday during the program year from September through June. The Choir also presents Choral Evensong and Advent Lessons and Carols. Rehearsals are held every Sunday in the chapel from 8:45-9:45am. Anyone can participate.
Each year our regular series of Choral Evensong and Advent Lesson and Carols will be offered.
Austin Organ Opus 1409 (1926) Our historic organ, the second at St. John’s, was built by the Austin Organ Company of Hartford, Connecticut in 1926. Recently reconditioned, it has approximately 4,445 pipes.
